High-Low-Jack League Format & Rules

1. Weekly Entry Fees:

   • $20 per person per week ($40 per team) entry fee for weekly participation.

   • ​

2. Game Format:

   • Best-of-seven games per match.

   • 1 point per game won in the match.

   • Teams accumulate points over the course of the league season.

   • ​

3. Weekly Matches:

   • Matches take place every Wednesday at 6:30 PM at The Joint Bar & Grill.

   • ​

League Start Date:

1. The High-Low-Jack League will start on January 8th.

Payout Structure:

• 1st Place: 40%

• 2nd Place: 25%

• 3rd Place: 15%

• 4th Place: 10%

• 5th Place: 10%

• 6th Place and beyond (through last place): $100 payout each team, only if the team completes the entire season.

Bye Week Rule:

1. Each team will have a bye week during the season.

Substituting Players:

• A team can add a substitute player if needed for a particular week.

• Teams must allow at least 24 hours to contact the substitute player before the match.

• The substitute player will not be required to pay any fees.

• The original player who is being substituted will be charged the weekly fee for that week.

UPS (Unsuccessful Bids) Rules:

If a team bids and fails to make the bid, their team will be charged $1 per player for each failed bid.

If a team's score is negative after a game, they will be charged an additional $2 per player for that game.

Dispute Resolution:

• All disputes must be brought up to the commissioner.

• The commissioner will have the final ruling on all disputes.

Cheating Rule:

• Cheating will not be tolerated.

  • If a team is caught cheating, they will be eliminated from the league.

  • The team will forfeit any money they have contributed, weekly fees.

• Top 5 teams & 6th and beyond will share the prize pool at the end of the season:

•   1st Place: 40%

                          2nd Place: 25%

                          3rd Place: 15%

                          4th Place: 10%

                          5th Place: 10%

• Smudge Pot Participation:

  • There will be a $10 entry fee to participate in the Smudge Pot.

  •  Each week, there will be a $5 fee to enter the Smudge Pot.

  • When the Smudge Pot is won, a new pot will be created.

• Calling for a Smudge:

  • The first player to call for a smudge must attempt to win all points and take all 6 tricks in the round (High, Low, Jack, Game).

  • ​

• Winning the Smudge:

  • If the player successfully wins all 6 tricks and points, they win the Smudge Pot prize and the game immediately.

 

• Failure to Win:

  • If the player fails to win all points or all tricks, they lose the game immediately.

  • ​

• Carried-Over Prize:

  • If no one wins the Smudge Pot that week, the prize rolls over to the next week.

  • Players must re-enter each week if interested.

  • ​

End-of-Season Banquet:

At the end of the season, there will be a banquet to celebrate the league's conclusion.

The event will feature an open bar and prize distribution for the top teams.

A percentage of the prize pool will be allocated to cover the costs of this event, ensuring a great time for all participants.
